The Patrol Section serves as the Police Department’s largest section with over 80 sworn personnel. Considered to be the backbone of any police organization, the primary responsibility of the Officers in the Patrol Section is to respond to calls for service (911). Officers also provide a variety of additional services, including pro-active crime intervention through intelligence led policing, emergency and critical incident response, accident investigation, traffic enforcement, preliminary crime scene investigation, nuisance crimes, community problem solving, and partnerships with the community.
The West Valley City Police Department offers residents the opportunity to ride along in a police patrol vehicle with a police officer during their tour of duty. This provides the chance to be at the scene of police incidents to see exactly how they are handled; ride-alongs also offer those interested in a law enforcement career the chance to see what such a career might involve.
If you are interested in a Police Ride-Along, please complete our online form. You will be contacted by the West Valley City Police Department to finalize your request.
