July 6:                                      Utah Symphony

West Fest 2010, WalMart and the Utah Cultural Celebration Center present a free outdoor concert by the Utah Symphony, performing patriotic and other crowd pleasing compositions to celebrate West Valley City’s 30th Anniversary and the 4th of July week!  Get your celebration on! 

 

July 12:                                    Na Drua

Na Drua is Fijian for “The Twins.” Twin brothers Semi & Jona (aka JR) grew up in the islands of Hawaii and Fiji surrounded by musical influences of family and Island culture. The two have been singing together since childhood and share the same love for great music. Na Drua takes the love of life’s experiences and the love of the many cultures that have been part of the member’s lives, and makes it manifest in the band’s music. Na Drua (like many other bands) plays music out of love to bring people together and to bond different cultures together.

               

July 19:                                    Latin Jazz Factory

Latin Jazz Factory specializes in taking classic & contemporary songs and performing them in various Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz rhythm styles.  Their repertoire include instrumental and vocal songs from Jazz greats such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and Poncho Sanchez.  Jazz it up!

 

July 26:                                    Smiling Souls 

Smiling Souls has diverse musical influences such as Jazz, Reggae, Hip Hop, Dancehall and old school Funk, mixing all of these to create their own unique sound. Live brass, experienced musicians, and smooth vocals create the sound that is Smiling Souls and gives you music from around the world. With their first album to be released soon, they are hitting the Salt Lake City club scene to treat music lovers to a true mix of musical culture that is sure to rock the spot!

 Aug 2:                                     Fuzion

The name says it all.  Fuzion plays a mix of different styles of music, or “fusion”.  The band is from Utah, the Zion state, thus “Fuzion” was born.  Fuzion celebrates great music from the past to the present, from regions all over the world – the rhythm of Latin, the soul of reggae, the passion of rock and the heart of classic country.  Bring the family for a great National Night Out, with plenty of activities and entertainment for everyone.  The heart of Summer is here!

 

Aug 9:                                      International Folk Dance and Music

In conjunction with the Bountiful Davis Art Center’s 22nd Annual Summerfest International, the Utah Cultural Celebration Center presents International folk musicians and dancers from three different countries.  Stay tuned for information on exactly what countries will be represented!

 

Aug 16:                                    The Soulistics

The Soulistics take the best funk, R&B and soul tunes ever and tear into them with fierce style, and a sound hailing back to those shadows of Motown. They are proud to pay respect to this devilishly good music by giving you a full-scale show to remember. If you want the funk, they’ve got the goods!


Aug 23:                                    Junction City Big Band


Bring  your dancin’ shoes and experience the sounds of Glen Miller, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and other great swing era bands of the 30s, 40s and 50s.  Led by Dr. K. Earl Ericksen, Junction City Big Band is your ticket to an evening of the classic arrangements and instrumentation that defined a generation.  This is an indoor dance party, so come ready to swing it!
