Kids Read Salt Lake

Kids Read Salt Lake Valley helps provide better access to reading materials for children living in Title 1 school neighborhoods. Their Read and Succeed libraries are placed in people’s yards who act as Ambassadors to provide quality reading material to children in grades one through six. Alarming national statistics report that approximately 45% of third graders are unable to read on grade level and in lower social-economic areas we know the figures are higher resulting in higher dropout and poverty rates. Kids Read Salt Lake hopes to lower that statistic by providing interesting and appropriate books to children with these neighborhood libraries where they and their parents can access them anytime it is convenient. West Valley City has partnered with Kids Read to increase the number of little libraries available to students in West Valley City. Residents can learn more about the program and how to become an Ambassador of a little library by contacting the program through their website kidsreadsaltlake.com.
