The West Valley City Police Department Honor Guard serves as uniformed ambassadors to the public. The Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit comprised of sworn members of the police department who are highly motivated and maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance and conduct, and who show aptitude for ceremonial duty. The unit is dedicated to upholding the highest values and traditions of the men and women of law enforcement.
The primary role of the unit is to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades and pay respects to their families. The Honor Guard also serves as the “guardians of the colors” by displaying and escorting the national flag on ceremonial occasions at official city functions. The honor guard is comprised of the Honor Guard Commander, the Honor Guard Coordinator and a small group of officers who provide various functions within the unit.
