What is the holiday garbage and recycling pick-up schedule?: There are only four (4) holidays that garbage and recycling are not collected: Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. If your garbage day falls on one of these holidays or after the holiday during the same week, your garbage will be picked up a day later. If in doubt, put it out!

1. What is the holiday garbage and recycling pick-up schedule?: There are only four (4) holidays that garbage and recycling are not collected: Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. If your garbage day falls on one of these holidays or after the holiday during the same week, your garbage will be picked up a day later. If in doubt, put it out!

2. I recently moved into West Valley City. How do I sign up for waste removal service?: Call the West Valley City Sanitation Division at 801-963-3334.

3. When should I have my container on the street?: Your green garbage container must be out on the curb by 7:00 am on your scheduled day. If you are missed because you did not have your container out on time, contact ACE Recycling & Disposal at 801-363-9995 to determine your next possible pick-up. You may put your container out the night before your scheduled garbage day. Containers must be off of the street the day following your scheduled garbage day.

4. How many times a week will my container be emptied?: Garbage cans are dumped only once a week. Do not refill container and put across the street for second pick up. If you continually have more garbage than your container will hold, you can rent an additional container.

5. What about grass clippings?: Grass clippings may be put in your green garbage container. Bag your clippings before putting them in the container. Grass clippings will not be picked up as bulky waste.

6. Does the lid need to close on my garbage can?: Yes. The lid on your container must be closed. If you have excess garbage that overflows your can, a lid can only be raised six inches. If it is more than six inches the garbage will not be picked up.

7. Can I obtain an additional can?: Yes. Call our office at 801-963-3334 and request an additional can be delivered to your home or you can come into our office at 2805 South 3600 West and pick up a can. In either case, ONLY property owners may request the additional can. Additional cans must be kept for a minimum of six months.

8. What happens if my container is damaged?: If the container is damaged by abuse or misuse, you will be charged a fee (see Sanitation Fees) to replace the can. Abuse and misuse includes overfilling the can, burning the can with hot coals or other hot material, paint or other hazardous materials in or on the can, etc. Be careful with what you put in your container. If the container is damaged by the contractor, there will be no charge to replace the can.

9. My regular pickup was missed, what do I do?: Contact ACE Recycling & Disposal at 801-363-9995. A customer response member will ask you your pickup day and record your address for the earliest possible pickup.

11. I just moved into an existing home in West Valley City. There is no garbage can, how do I get a new can?: Contact the West Valley City Sanitation Department at 801-963-3334.

12. My container is broken, burnt or missing, how do I get a new container?: Contact the West Valley City Sanitation Division at 801-963-3334 to request a new container.

13. Where can I recycle my household electronics?: Take household electronics to the Salt Lake County Landfill household hazardous waste dropoff at 6030 West California Avenue.
