Snow Removal
Show All Answers
1.
When do I need to move my parked car off the street in a snow storm?
City ordinance requires residents to move their cars off from the street when there is a
one inch
accumulation of snow or ice on the roadway. Cars parked on the street make it extremely difficult for snow plows to clear snow and ice from the pavement, especially in cul-de-sacs and on dead-end streets.
2.
When are the snow plows sent out?
The plow operators are dispatched
immediately
at the beginning of a storm and stay out continually during the storm. They are responsible for clearing over 300 center-lane miles of city roads, some of which require four to eight passes.
3.
Which streets do they plow first?
Snow plows prioritize roads to plow as follows:
Main collector roads
Priority routes in subdivisions
Residential through streets
Cul-de-sacs and dead ends
4.
How soon do I need to clear my sidewalks?
It is the responsibility of the property owner to clear sidewalks of snow and ice adjacent to their property within 24 hours of snowfall ceasing.
