Welcome to the West Valley City Building Inspection Division. Our intent is to provide as much information as possible before you call or travel to City Hall. Hopefully, this information will save you time and expedite the permit process.
Commercial developers should pay particular attention to the project routing packet, as approvals are required from multiple departments and agencies prior to permit issuance.
Requests
West Valley City maintains ample staffing, which includes fully licensed, competent building inspectors, certified plans examiners, an executive secretary, and a permit counter technician, all ready to help bring your plans into reality.
Inspection requests can usually be accommodated within 24 hours. Major projects are assigned a primary and secondary inspector for the duration of the construction.
Plan Review Time
- Residential Remodel, Garages and Shed Plans - 3 to 5 days
- New house plans - 10 Days
- Commercial Plans - 3 to 4 weeks

In conformance with the Utah State Code {10-6-160(2)}, West Valley City hereby declares that they have entered into a Mutual Aid Agreement with the following Jurisdictions for building inspection services if WVC is unable to fulfill a request for inspection with 3 or more days' notice:
